The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes
Pearl Market kicks off Friday, May 25, and runs through Oct. 12. Traditionally held Downtown at Pearl and Lynn alleys, this year the farmers market temporarily moves to the North Plaza of the Ohio Statehouse because of alley construction. The market, featuring produce, baked goods, food trucks, live music and more, takes place 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.
One Line Coffee announced the site of its third retail store and flagship location. The local coffee roaster will open at the River and Rich development in Franklinton early next year. The venture will mark a new collaboration with Mmelo Boutique Confections, which has a retail shop in the Arena District. The partnership is a big move for Mmelo, which will transfer its entire production operation to Franklinton from its shared commercial space in the Economic and Community Development Institute's (ECDI)Food Fort. In addition, Mmelo's coffee shop offerings will expand to include croissants, scones and cookies, as well as its signature chocolate tea cakes, candies and Marshmmelos.
Little Eater's Produce & Provisions market closed last week in the North Market. In an announcement, North Market's executive director Rick Harrison Wolfe said owner Cara Mangini plans to focus on the growth of Little Eater's restaurant brand. The North Market has already tapped the produce stand's replacement: Mini-Super, a concept by owner-operator Matthew Miner, will offer fresh produce, eggs, dairy products and more. Look for it to open at the end of June.
Franklinton's Bottoms-Up Coffee Co-Op (1069 W. Broad St.) is under new management. The co-working space and coffee shop are now managed by Cova Cowork, founded by Meghan and Josh Boone, Minji Kim and Dylan Hoffman.
Da Levee owner Justin Boehme recently opened Eugene's Canteen, a bar and billiards joint, at 765 N. High St. It replaces the Da Levee Short North location, which closed in April.
Poke Bros. is adding a third Central Ohio location at the end of this month, located at 599 S. State St. in Westerville. The fast-casual spot will feature an expanded menu beyond its signature Hawaiian poke bowls, including brisket sliders, grilled salmon and more.
Local Cantina is now open at 667 N. Cleveland Ave. in Westerville.
