Filmmaker tackles cultural restrictions in 'Ava,' to be screened at Wexner Center

From emerging filmmaker Sadaf Foroughi, “Ava” tells the story of a 16-year-old girl rebelling against Iran's social restrictions, as well as those of her own mother. Foroughi's first feature, based in part on her own experiences, is emboldened by her “strong and assured voice,” said Wexner Center Director of Film/Video Dave Filipi, crediting not only her storytelling but her directorial technique. The film is in Farsi with English subtitles.
