David Butler riffs on 'the duality of living in a system that always will favor whiteness over my black body.'
Speaking of the Vanderelli Room, David Butler's collection of politically charged art, “Snowflake for President,” wraps with this event on Saturday. Butler and poet/educator Tyiesha Radford Shorts will discuss the work and its themes as well as the broader political climate matter as we approach the midterm elections. “It's the duality of living in a system that always will favor whiteness over my black body. … It's me trying to find some reason to believe in a system that wasn't meant for me or people like me, or people of color in general, in hopes for a better future,” Butler said.
