Cello quartet to perform commissioned works by Mark Lomax
Fittingly, the four women in UCelli (The Columbus Cello Quartet) will be performing “Four Women,” a composition by Columbus musician/composer Mark Lomax, in concert next week. “Four Women” is also part of Lomax's 12-album cycle, 400: An Afrkian Epic, which will be released later this year. The piece pays tribute to 17th-century Mbundu queen Nzinga Mbande, writer Ida B. Wells, crusader Dr. Angela Davis and author/professor Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, each of whom has championed freedom and human rights.
