In advance of his set at BrewDog's Annual General Mayhem fest on Saturday, Aug. 24, local producer/songwriter Parker Louis talks burgers, beer, cocktails and Maroon Arts Group.
Parker Louis is an Akron-born, Lake Erie-bred R&B producer whose debut EPs, All Good Things Pt. One + Two, have garnered significant buzz since their release in 2018. Before his 4:30 p.m. set this Saturday at the BrewDog Annual General Mayhem festival, with national acts like Manchester Orchestra, Waxahatchee, Yowler, Kevin DeVine and Diet Cig, and and local bands such as Caamp, Van Dale, Counterfeit Madison, wyd and Souther.
Here are a few of his favorite things.
Cravings Cafe Burger
WAKE UP, FOLKS. CRAVINGS HAS THE BEST BURGER IN COLUMBUS. THERE'S LITERALLY NO ONE THAT COMES CLOSE. I'VE HAD 'EM ALL. Seriously. Grow up. Eat one. You’ll see.
Maroon Arts Group
Conscious creatives in town showcasing other conscious creatives while simultaneously giving visibility and voice to issues and communities in our city that go unnoticed, at the same time helping and enriching Columbus in the the process! On top of that, MAG typically features Willowbeez Soul Veg at events at MPACC Box Park in King-Lincoln District, featuring the best vegan food in the city (if Portia is the Queen, Carnell is the King). Listen up and support!
Rugged Expanse Stout is all the good parts of adulthood concentrated into a glass. And I get to drink it in a wooded paradise at the tip of the Scioto Watershed? I’m there. The brewery also features up-and-coming local musicians every Sunday. Win-Win... Win.
I really don’t wanna blow this place up, 'cause it's a wonderful late-night secret spot. Actually, forget I said it. What was the question?
Light of the Seven Matchsticks
In my opinion, the finest cocktail program in the city, curated by PJ Ford, enforced by Natalie Jackson. Delightful cocktails and swanky atmosphere with none of the pomp and circumstance. James Bond + James Brown, without the misogyny. Also the bartenders are sooo cool and awesome and good looking!
