The entrepreneur shares her favorite soap, podcasts and more
Lauren Ashleigh, the owner of BeLeigh Inspired (pronounced “be-lee”), is a guided meditation teacher and a creator who likes to inspire. She’s also the woman behind Tender, Love, and Curl, BeLeigh Inspired’s annual social event that celebrates natural hair in black women. The event takes place Saturday, July 13, from 1-4 p.m. at Long Street Studio (300 E. Long St.). Tickets can be purchased at beleighinspired.org.
Here are some things she loves.
2 Natural Sisters soap
I stopped using commercial soaps a couple of years ago because of the distrust of safety and chemicals, but finding the right soap can be difficult. I recently tried 2 Natural Sisters Goat Milk Soap (which can be purchased online or at Yvonne’s in Reynoldsburg) and I love it. It smells really good, has a great lather and is probably one of the best soaps I’ve tried. Highly recommend!
I was introduced to Ari Lennox back in college by one of my roommates. Songs like “GOAT” and “Yuengling” from her project Pho were played quite often on my end. It was something about her tone and style of music that I thoroughly enjoyed. So I was hyped when I found out her debut album, Shea Butter Baby, would be dropping this year. From start to finish, I have listened to this album countless times, but I do have some favorites, such as “BMO,” “New Apartment” and “Static.”
Three Creeks Metro Park
The summer of 2013, I learned that being in nature gives me a sense of peace and calmness. When I find myself needing to clean my head, I go to the park, especially if it has a body of water near. I find myself visiting Three Creeks Metro Park in Groveport quite often since it’s close to where I live.
Small Business Development Center
I started BeLeigh Inspired more than a year ago and, to be honest, I didn’t know much about business at the time. A few months after launching, I stumbled across Wise Women through SBDC, which is a mentoring group for women who want to start a business, or have had a business for more than a year. It has been a great resource and I get the support I need to have a successful business.
I started listening to “The Read” podcast a few years ago. From there, I discovered many others that I use for pure entertainment or inspiration to gather my life. At this point, I listen to about 10 different podcasts, but my favorites are “The Read,” “The Friend Zone” and Alex Elle’s “hey, girl.”
