The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes

Brittney Barnhart and Gary McConnell, the co-owners of Cafe Phenix on Gay Street, plan to open Phenix Bistro just a few doors down at 51 E. Gay St., where Criollo recently closed. Cafe Phenix, which serves English- and French-inspired sandwiches, soups and bakery items, first opened Downtown in 2016. McConnell says the new location will allow Phenix to offer an expanded breakfast menu, plus lunch and dinner menus. The current cafe at 39 E. Gay St. will remain, with a pared down menu of baked goods, tea and coffee.

An upscale Indian restaurant and cocktail bar named Rooh will replace Westies Tavern (formerly Branch) at 685 N. High St. in the Short North, according to Columbus Business First. The owners of Rooh also operate restaurants in San Francisco and New York.

Pier 11 Boiling Seafood & Bar opened this week at 3920 E. Broad St. in Whitehall's Town & Country Shopping Center. The new restaurant offers low country boils, baskets of fried seafood, po'boys and more.

BrewDog USA announced last week that its CEO Tanisha Robinson will be moving to the global team as “chief disruption officer.” Allison Green, who has worked as BrewDog's global chief of staff for three years, has been named the new head of the Scotland-based brewery's U.S. operations. Robinson's initial projects include scaling the brewery's DogHouse hotel concept and launching canned cocktails, as well as CBD beverages.

Freshbox Catering, a subsidiary of Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio, stopped operations last week. The social enterprise offered boxed lunches for working lunches and conferences and provided job readiness training. A statement posted to Facebook read: “Simply put, we did not generate enough revenue to create the scale of social impact that was our goal.” Freshbox was founded in 2009 by Joe DeLoss, who went on to launch Hot Chicken Takeover.

Tickets are on sale for the 2019 Taste of Granville, an afternoon of music, food, wine and beer, in support of Granville Rotary Foundation. The annual event takes place Saturday, April 27, at the Bryn Du Mansion & Field House, 537 Jones Rd. in Granville. Tickets can be purchased at tasteofgranville.org.

The Keep Liquor Bar is hosting a series of experiential, multi-course dinners prepared by The Keep's Executive Chef Jonathan Olson. Just ahead of Cinco de Mayo, the next event will highlight four Cantera Negra Tequilas with food pairings. The dinner takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at 50 W.
