The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes

Katalina's, Kathleen Day's popular eatery known for its Southern- and Latin-influenced fare, opens its second location on Monday, June 3, at 3481 N. High St. in Clintonville. The new 2,600-square-foot restaurant and patio (six times the size of its flagship location) will serve old favorites like Katalina's Original Pancake Balls, plus new additions such as Chile Relleno A Go Go and the Prego Steak Sandwich with bavette sirloin on brioche. The cafe will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Geordie's Restaurant, the new English pub fromchef/owner Glen Hall-Jones, holds its grand opening on Friday, May 31, at 1586 S. High St. in Merion Village. Geordie's celebrates the cooking and traditions of Newcastle, with a dinner menu that ranges from salads and burgers to classics like steak and ale pie. Weekend brunch offerings include chicken and waffles, a full English breakfast and traditional Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding.

Short & Stout Kitchen officially takes over the kitchen inside the Brewery District's Daily Growler (702 S. High St.) starting Thursday, May 30. Short & Stout, owned by husband-and-wife team Lehne and Dallas Runyon, replaces Big Mamma's Burritos. The Runyons offer two menus: brunch is served daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while smash burgers and loaded fries are served 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Last week, The Roosevelt Coffeehouse opened its doors at the Gravity development (462 W. Broad St.), and a grand opening is planned for Saturday, June 1. The new Franklinton location makes three for the coffee roaster/social enterprise, including Roosevelt's flagship shop on Long Street and a coffee counter inside Olentangy River Brewing Co. in Lewis Center.

The 2019 Chicken & Beer Festival takes place noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 1. This family friendly picnic offers live music, local food trucks serving up chicken dishes, craft beer and more. You'll find the festivities at West Bank Park, just south of COSI on Washington Boulevard. The official after party, featuring live entertainment, kicks off at 9 p.m. at Rehab Tavern, 456 W. Town St. in Franklinton.

Le Vieux Lyon French Bakery Cafe is now open at 1774 Brice Rd. in Reynoldsburg. Co-owner/baker Manira Camaraoffers house-made French pastries such as croissants, eclairs, tarts, mille-feuille and other desserts, plus coffee and tea.

The Massey's Pizza at 1951 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. has closed temporarily. The North Side pizzeria suffered serious damage when a car crashed into it last weekend.
