The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes

Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce Café & Club, a burger bar-meets-burlesque lounge, made its debut last week at 3459 Brighton Rose Square as part of Easton Town Center’s $500 million development. The new venture from Kane, a Los Angeles-based restaurateur, features a New York-styled diner on the ground floor, with a menu of over-the-top burgers and milkshakes. A “secret” entrance through the kitchen leads to a second-floor lounge and burlesque club. The café and lounge are open seven days a week, while the club’s nightlife scene will kick off at 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Wild Ginger Asian Fusion has opened at 7434 State Route 161 in the Dublin Green development in Jerome Township. Owner Justin Ye launched his first Wild Ginger at 1726 Hilliard Rome Rd. in 2012, followed by Ye’s Asian Vegan, which opened last fall at 2469 Hilliard Rome Rd.

The new 50-seat, full-service restaurant and bar at Columbus State’s Mitchell Hall, Degrees, officially opens to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The restaurant, located at 250 Cleveland Ave., will serve as a training ground for CSCC’s culinary arts students. Menu items include oysters on the half shell, shrimp and grits, hand-made pastas, sandwiches, flatbreads, short rib and more. Degrees will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.

The owners of Coco's Grill on the Northwest Side are the new proprietors of the former Peking Hot Pot on Bethel Road. Now named CoCo’s Hot Pot, the Chinese restaurant at 743 Bethel Rd. features a remodeled interior and an expanded selection of Chinese fare. A liquor license is in the works.

“Competitive entertainment” entrepreneur Marty Parker (owner of Columbus Axe Throwing and Throw Nation) has launched a new concept, The Blind Ninja Dinner Challenge, in which participants dine on a five-course dinner — while blindfolded. (What’s next? Blindfolded ax throwing?) The new “dining in the dark” experience is located at 560 S. High St., home to Columbus Axe Throwing in the Brewery District. The Blind Ninja Dinner Challenge offers two seatings (6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) on Fridays and Saturdays.
