Yellow Brick Pizza’s shop near Victorian Village has closed, but a new Franklinton location at the River & Rich development is moving forward with plans to open this fall. Yellow Brick’s last day at 245 King Ave. was Saturday. Yellow Brick’s original location in Olde Towne East (892 Oak St.) reopened Sunday after a coronavirus scare prompted it to close on July 10 so that all employees could be tested. The OTE shop is currently operating with limited hours from 4 to 10 p.m. daily.
Ben Sippel, the co-owner of Sippel Family Farm and partner in Kokoborrego Cheese Co., died yesterday after a battle with cancer. The award-winning artisan cheese company, based in Mount Gilead, Ohio, made the announcement on social media. Alive wrote about Kokoborrego, which specializes in sheep’s milk cheese, soon after it launched in 2011. Ben and Lisa Sippel have owned and operated Sippel Family Farm since 2004. Grandview-based Echo Spirits Distilling Co. announced a release date for its inaugural rye whiskey, which has been aging for two years. Bottles of this limited-run whiskey will be available starting at noon on Wednesday, August 5, at Echo Spirits’ bottle shop (985 W. Sixth Ave.). Reserve your bottles at echospirits.com. The distillery’s on-premise bar is not open yet, but a few local restaurants, including Rye River Social and Natalie’s Music Hall & Kitchen, will be showcasing the rye in cocktails.
Katalina’s Harrison West café (1105 Pennsylvania Ave.) has reopened for carryout and curbside pickup after temporarily closing amid the ongoing COVID-19 surge. Patio and dine-in service have been suspended. Katalina’s Clintonville location remains closed until further notice.
This Week News reports that Rodos Mediterranean Grill is coming soon to 3365 Indianola Ave., next to Palmer’s Beverage Center.
