Firelands Ambulance Service calls numbered 638 in 2018, a record year for the service, according to coordinator Dan Bailey. He said Advanced Life Support transports made up 278 of the calls, 168 were Basic Life Support and 192 were non-transports, including fire and police standbys, public assists, cancelled calls and refusals.

Mutual aid was provided to Norwalk, Greenwich, North Fairfield, Wakeman and the townships of Bronson, Greenwich, Ripley, Hartland, Fairfield and Clarksfield. The top five calls were trauma injury, shortness of breath, altered level of consciousness, chest pain and overdose or poisoning.

The FAS board meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month at 25 James St, and the next meeting is Feb. 18.

Anyone younger than 18 years old who has a craft project he or she would like to display, take it to the library where it will be put into a display case for the month of February. Projects could include Legos, knitting/crocheting, painting, coloring, sewing, beads, painted rocks or any other crafts. Please bring a 3x5 card with your name and craft description or one will be provided.

The library Cookie Club reading program continues through Feb. 28 and the ATLAS Jr. Book Club meets from 3 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19. The library will be closed Monday, Feb. 18 for Presidents Day.
