Catch up on the Dispatch's essential Suffering on Sullivant series and prepare to hear a new GBV album

Over the weekend, the Dispatch published its three-part Suffering on Sullivant series, which takes a deep dive into the numerous problems plaguing the West Side corridor that runs through parts of Franklinton and the Hilltop. It’s a long, worthwhile read, and we recommend you set aside some time to really absorb the depth and breadth of the reporting.

On Friday, the Buckeyes continued its early season dominance with a 52-3 shellacking of Northwestern, with quarterback Justin Fields throwing for another four touchdowns. Up next for the Bucks is a matchup with Wisconsin, a game that lost some of its luster when the formerly unbeaten Badgers fell to Illinois over the weekend, losing 24-23.

Think of this entry less as something you already missed than something you might not want to miss. This Thursday, Oct. 24, Lost Weekend Records will host a listening party for the new Guided By Voices album, Sweating the Plague, which takes its title from the feeling one experiences several days after a toddler coughs in your general vicinity. (I kid, sort of.) Lost Weekend, located in Clintonville at 2960 N. High St., is one of only 17 stores worldwide to host a listening event for the new record, and anyone who attends will be entered to win a test pressing of the album signed by GBV’s Bob Pollard.
