Last day of operations will be March 23; Cafe Bourbon St. location will remain open

In a Facebook post, Pierogi Mountain announced it is leaving its German Village location that opened in the old Max & Erma's space last year, explaining that while the location was "doing fine, ... it turns out that the owners of the building/Wunderbar no longer have a desire to operate a bar and they will be bringing in another concept to take over the space. It’ll probably be a fine dining place."

The Wunderbar location of Pierogi Mountain will remain open until March 23, and the Cafe Bourbon St. location will continue to serve the beloved dumplings. The restaurant also has plans to open an additional location in late spring or early summer.

In a 2018 cover story, Alive took a deep dive into the world of Pierogi Mountain and its founder, Matt Majesky.

First, the bad news:

March 23rd will be our last day in operation at Wunderbar in German Village.

While we were doing fine in our operation, it turns out that the owners of the building/Wunderbar no longer have a desire to operate a bar and they will be bringing in another concept to take over the space. It’ll probably be a fine dining place and will do well. We wish the new owners all the luck on the world.

We have enjoyed our time here in German Village and consider ourselves lucky to have gained so many new and amazing customers. We thank you.

We also want to thank our excellent staff who have hung in there with us and helped to execute this vision to the best of their ability.

Finally we’d like to thank the staff and management at Wunderbar. You have been great hosts.

That being said, we still have bills to pay and will be in operation until the 23rd. So if you like us, come on down and enjoy our food in the daylight a few more times.

Now the good news!

We here on Pierogi Mountain aren’t chumps. The writing has been on the wall for some time that our time here was limited. Because of this we have been working diligently on securing a brand new space that we hope to have open in late spring/early summer! We hoped to be able to announce where we are moving to at this point but commercial real estate transactions move slow and there is a lot to do.

Look for an announcement soon!

So anyway, we are still here until the 23rd and our Bourbon Street location isn’t going anywhere. We could use your support more than ever during this time, so stop in and see us!

We hope to see you all soon, and thanks again!
