The latest updates from the bar and restaurant scenes

Every day, more local establishments are deciding to forgo carryout/delivery and close temporarily in response to the coronavirus crisis. A few recent closures include: Baba’s, Bibibop Asian Grill (all locations), Hot Chicken Takeover (all locations), Huong Vietnamese Restaurant, Los Guachos Taqueria (all locations), Rooh, Strongwater Food & Spirits, Tula Taqueria and all restaurants in the Grow Restaurants family: Cosecha Cocina, Harvest Pizzeria and The Sycamore. 

Middle West Spirits and Watershed Distillery have begun producing sanitizer for first responders, hospitals and homeless shelters. Read the Dispatch story here.

Several businesses have launched assistance funds to help their employees during this difficult time. A few include: A&R Creative Group, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants,Rusty Bucket, Simple Times Mixers,  The Table and Watershed Kitchen & Bar. 

Vaso, the rooftop restaurant at Dublin’s AC Hotel, has partnered with COhatch to provide meals to seniors and children in need. The meals are being prepared by Vaso’s kitchen team and distributed daily by COhatch. For information on contributing, email help@cohatch.com or call 614-502-7000.

Echo Spirits Distilling Co. is holding a weekly online series called Stay Home Cocktail Classes. The first class, which takes place Thursday at 7:30 p.m., features mixologist Christina Basham who will talk about the basics of making cocktails. Register here. You can pick up materials for the class at Echo Spirits’ bottle shop, which remains open for carryout a 985 W. Sixth Ave. in Grandview.

Max & Erma’s has closed permanently at 4279 Cemetery Rd. in Hilliard. The burger chain, which was founded in Columbus, has seen many closures in recent years. Six locations remain in Central Ohio.
