Bar profile: FM All American Bar & Grill

Jesse Tigges, Columbus Alive

There's a lot going on at FM All American Bar & Grill, which recently opened in Gahanna. The massive space has multiple meticulously designed rooms and offers a plethora of live music and event nights throughout the week.

The main area houses a massive bar - its handcrafted surface features license plates from all 50 states - and booths and tables running along the walls. Most seats offer a view of the stage, where local rock bands play originals and covers. There's also a dance floor with a hilarious still-image montage of John Travolta from "Saturday Night Fever" on the wall and a mechanical bull in the back corner.

The ancillary rooms jutting off from the main area also boast magnificent design. The Las Vegas room, complete with '60s-era white leather couches and Rat Pack posters, is a private party room that's open to anyone if it's not in use. The second, smaller bar area has a rustic lodge feel with wood walls and a faux tree creeping out over the bar.

Finally, I must mention the 50-foot Flying V guitar that hangs over the dining area. The piece is quite impressive and fits well with FM's Hard Rock Cafe-esque design.

The main room is the place to be - nearly every seat was filled last Friday night. The crowd was a bit of everything: hip, partying twentysomethings and more reserved suburban types.

FM offers a draft beer selection with a number of crafts around $5 and a few more expensive outliers like Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and Unibroue's La Fin du Monde. The bottle selection ($3-$5) includes the usual suspects (domestic lagers, popular imports) and a few microbrews.

An extensive martini list consisting of traditional recipes and fruity/sweet concoctions had the shakers going all night long. Most specialty cocktails and martinis are $8-$9, and a nicely poured glass of Jameson ran $6.

The food menu at FM features a number of contemporary American options. There are burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and flatbreads, as well as steak, pork chops and pasta entrees.
