Daily Distraction: The Bascinets stay on script

Not long after performing as part of Alive's 2019 Bands to Watch show at Ace of Cups, the Bascinets packed up and moved to Chicago, where, judging by new single "Script," the band has continued to churn out lyrically sharp, expertly crafted indie-pop tunes.

On the song, the first released off of forthcoming long-player Social Music, singer/guitarist Nick Wellman attempts to analyze a conversation from a distance ("Are they discussing what they had for lunch?/Or are they caught up in the heat of an argument?"), pausing for a moment for deeper reflection even as the music continues to move at an urgent clip.
