The fifth Lancaster BrewFest introduced a major change this year: the expansion from a single-day event to a full week's worth of activities. The new Lancaster Brew Week will include more than 20 different events throughout the community, including beer and food pairings, tap takeovers, special releases, meet-the-brewer events, a home brewing competition, yoga, live music and more.

“BrewFest is a great opportunity for locals and visitors to spend time all over Lancaster and Fairfield County trying craft beers from across the state,” said Aaron Uhl, founder of Lancaster BrewFest. “This year we wanted to make it extra special by expanding the celebration to be a weeklong event, partnering with businesses for unique events and offering more brews to try.”

The week's events will open on Sunday, Aug. 12, with a special noon beer tapping at Double Edge Brewing Co., which just opened this past spring in Lancaster. The featured beer for the week is a collaboration between Double Edge, Combustion Brewery in Pickerington and the forthcoming Outerbelt Brewing in Carroll, Ohio.

Later that day, Double Edge Brewing hosts a home brewing competition. The winner will have their beer brewed with Double Edge's head brewer, Zac Williams.

Other highlights for the week include:

  • Monday, Aug. 13: Jackie O's beer pairing dinner at Ale House 1890
  • Tuesday, Aug. 14: Cakeskis and Brewskis, cupcakes paired with Double Edge beer
  • Wednesday, Aug. 15: Brew-B-Que at Bob's Backyard Barbeque
  • Thursday, Aug. 16: Charcuterie and beer pairing at Combustion Brewery
  • Friday, Aug. 17: Brew Ha-Ha! comedy night at O'Huid's Gaelic Pub

The week culminates in Lancaster BrewFest on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 5-10 p.m. The festival closes down the 100 block of North Broad Street in Lancaster. Breweries line the block, while a music stage caps one end of the street. The event is set to feature 50 different beers. Forcynthia, Dan Orr and Popgun will provide tunes, while food trucks such as Bob's Backyard BBQ, Empanadas & More, and Bee Pops will serve food.
