On Tap: Wolf’s Ridge Brewing celebrates Oktoberfest
On Saturday, Sept. 1, Wolf's Ridge Brewing pairs the annual release of its Oktoberfest lager with a showcase of its new event space, the Hickory Room.
The brewery's Oktoberfest celebration runs from noon to 6 p.m. in the Hickory Room, which recently opened adjacent to the restaurant's main dining room. This is the first time the event room has been open to the public; the space will be lightly decorated as a German beer hall for Saturday's event.
The festivities will pair German-style foods crafted for the occasion with a roster of German-style beers brewed in-house. The menu includes items like bratwurst, buttered spaetzle, jaegerschnitzel, Hamburg mussels cooked in Wolf's Ridge Buchenrauch smoked lager, drunken steak fries in Oktoberfest aioli, and Bavarian berries and cream.
The Oktoberfest Marzen-style lager will be the main beverage featured at the event. The seasonal brew was released on tap earlier this week, and is available in 500 ml bottles. The first 100 guests at the Oktoberfest party will have the chance to purchase limited-edition one-liter steins; the vessels will be available for $15, which includes the glass and first pour of beer. Subsequent stein pours are $10.
The tap list in the event space will be rounded out by more German-style beers, like the kolsch, Buchenrauch smoked lager, Litany Against Fear smoked sour and Link or Patty? fennel and lavender smoked lager. Large-format bottles of the Oktoberfest, Buchenrauch and Gose will be available, too.
The party is not ticketed. The Hickory Room is connected to the Wolf's Ridge taproom via a hallway, so party guests are free to come and go, although stein pours will be limited to the event space.
The brewery will continue the Germanic celebrations Sunday, Sept. 9, with a German beer dinner. The five-course, ticketed meal will also be held in the Hickory Room and pairs creations from Wolf's Ridge chef Seth Lassak with German-style beers from head brewer Chris Davison. As of press time, about 15 tickets were left for the dinner.
