Food News: Edison Brewing Co. opens soon; Pistacia Vera departs the North Market

Gahanna’sEdison Brewing Co. will unveil its new brewery and sunset-facing beer garden to the public on Friday, Aug. 7. The new brewery, which sits atop the highest point in Franklin County at 785 Science Blvd. near The Golf Depot, is part of a $6 million multi-use project developed by the company Franklin Peak and its founder, Wil Schulze. Edison’s head brewer is Victor Ecimovich III, a longtime Columbus brewer and consultant who worked at historic Hoster Brewing Co. in the 1990s. Pistacia Vera announced on Saturday that it will not reopen its North Market location. The popular pastry shop joined the historic market more than six years ago. “Due to continued uncertainty, we simply must focus our time and resources to our German Village location,” a post on Pistacia Vera’s social media accounts read. “We are committed to doing all we can to maintain a thriving business and continue to serve our extraordinary community during these difficult times.”

Kolache Republicis back. The Czech-inspired bakery and cafe reopened over the weekend inside The Daily Growler German Village at702 S. High St., just steps away from Kolache’s original location. The new location will offer breakfast Wednesday through Sunday, as well as happy hour offerings Thursday through Saturday.

In case you missed it: On Saturday, What the Waffle opened its first standalone brick-and-mortar in the King-Lincoln District. Gayle Troy’s breakfast-focused eatery first launched at Olde Towne East’s Food Hub in 2016 and closed the following year ahead of plans to open in King-Lincoln. To start, the restaurant at 695 E. Long St. will serve takeout-only breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Clintonville Pizza Primo is open again after undergoing renovations. The Columbus-style pizza spot is located at 3027 Indianola Ave., just steps away from Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse.
