Food News: Easton Town Center adds Afra Grill and Fay’s Crepes

Afra Gill (1635 Morse Road) is adding a second location this fall at Easton Town Center, according to an announcement posted Monday on the restaurant’s social media accounts. Based on an artist’s rendering, the new eatery is going in next to World of Beer on Townsfair Way. Named one of Columbus Monthly's Best New Restaurants last year, Afra Grill is a fast-casual restaurant owned by Somali native Abdirahman "Abcos" Ahmed that specializes in Pan-African fare such as mulawah (sweet Somali crepes), chicken suqaar, jollof rice and more. Afra Grill has already been announced as one of the food vendors planned for the forthcoming Bubbly Hall in New Albany.
A second Somali-owned business is joining Easton Town Center. Owner Fay Abdi is relocating her crepe shop, Fay’s Crepes, from Polaris Fashion Place to Easton. The grand opening will be announced later this month. According to a post on social media, the new shop will be attached to Brio Italian Grille and across from Barnes & Noble. Fay’s Crepes is also expected to join Bubbly Hall when it debuts at 6031 Central College Road next fall.
The Food Truck Food Court returns to John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons this Thursday, June 3, with a lineup that includes: Aloha Aina, Fetty’s Street Food, Paddy Wagon, Pitabilities, Queen’s Table and the doughnut shop Donna's Delicious Dozen. The food court will take place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. every Thursday through October at 160 S. High St.
Two new mobile coffee bars recently hit the streets. Park Service Coffee opens today at City Dog, 395 E. Mound St. The coffee trailer offers drip, pour overs and espresso drinks. In addition, Honey Cup Coffee Co. made its debut over the weekend at the corner of Hudson and Summit next to Punk Pigs. Honey Cup is set to share a daytime space with Lovebirds, a planned bar and music venue scheduled to open later this year in the Old North neighborhood, according to Lovebirds owner Bobby Miller. Chef Michael Koenig has joined Hen Quarter (6628 Riverside Drive) as the Bridge Park restaurant's new executive chef. Koenig is making a return to Dublin where he was once the longtime chef of Tucci’s. He was most recently executive chef at Fireproof in the Short North.
