Food News: Moran’s to replace Half Pint in Arena District

The Arena District is adding a restaurant from the owners of Pat & Gracie’s and Matt and Tony’s Wood Fired Kitchen. According to new storefront signage, Moran’s Bar & Grille will replace The Half Pint at 415 N. Front St., Ste 199. The Half Pint’s Arena District location has been closed since last year because of the pandemic. Two other Half Pint locations remain in Worthington and Marysville, though the Worthington pub has been listed as temporarily closed since December.
A new pierogi spot called Sweet CLE-Bus is coming soon to at 447 Lazelle Road, formerly Little Caesar's Pizza. This is the first retail location for Cleveland native Lizz Szabo, who founded the business last year with a hope of bringing more authentic Eastern European eats to Columbus.
A local caterer is opening a brick-and-mortar in Dublin. Kool Daddy’s Barbecue Bar and Smokehouse is targeting a mid-September opening at 5855 Frantz Road, according to the business’ website and a job listing. The site was previously La Herradura Mexican Restaurant. Kool Daddy’s serves a combination of Texas- and Memphis-style barbecue plus Southern sides.
Jet’s Pizza, the Detroit-style pizza chain, is set to open this October inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Jet’s Pizza has more than 18 locations in the Columbus area. Speaking of Detroit-style pizza, Square Slice Pizzeria made its debut inside the Old North Arcade (2591 N. High St.) on Friday.
Over the weekend, Natalie’s Coal-Fired Pizza & Live Music in Worthington, which is a privately owned establishment, was the site of a protest against the restaurant’s new policy requiring that customers and performers show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter. A group called Moms Against DeWine organized the protest.
