"Ongoingness: The End of a Diary" by Sarah Manguso

A spare, meditative book about Manguso's obsessive need to catalog her life, and how that sometimes got in the way of her life.

Marian Hill

I got introduced to this jazz-y throwback duo, and they're fast becoming my go-to chill music choice. Bonus: They're coming to Columbus later this year.

"The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins

I can't put down this book. Seriously, it grabs your attention and takes you for a chilling, thrilling ride. I haven't been this wrapped up in a book since "Gone Girl."

"Mr. Robot"

The new USA series, which hinges on a "Fight Club"-like, anti-capitalist premise, is far better than it should be.

Nihilist Arby's

I can't think of a better combination than this particular brand of thinking with this particular brand of poor eating habits.

Fresh bleach

Being a bottle-blonde is a commitment … Don't fear the burn.

X Ambassadors,Love Songs Drug Songs

You might know the band from its songs "Renegades" and "Jungle," but before those, they released Love Songs Drug Songs in 2013. It's a well-crafted introduction to the band that shows it's been evolving its sound without abandoning its style. Check out the title track - it's one of my favorites.
