TV Review: The Eric Andre Show

“The Eric Andre Show” is the most frantic and unorthodox late-night talk show I’ve ever seen. That means it fits perfectly within the world of Adult Swim. Andre (most recognizable for playing Mark, one of my favorite characters on “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23”) opens his first episode in a ridiculously destructive way, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

Then Andre introduces his co-host Hannibal Buress — yes, it is officially the unofficial Hannibal Buress Week in the TV corner of Alive — and the show settles into more typical late-night routines … sort of. Nothing about this show is typical.

Visits by guests — a creepy George Clooney impersonator and an even creepier real Dolph Lundgren — are interspersed with completely out-there skits and street pranks. The show finishes with a musical act that I won’t spoil because the surprise of it may be the most awesome thing ever done in late-night television.
