Preview: Fool's Gold at the Summit

Brad Caulkins was a regular on Columbus stages for more than a decade. He played with the Jive Turkeys, a highly esteemed outfit once described in these pages as sounding “like Leon Redbone on crystal meth.” He was a core member of prodigious pop-rock combo The Sun, which signed to Warner Bros., rubbed elbows with the likes of Wilco and The Flaming Lips, and came within a scrape of “making it.”

In 2008, Caulkins moved to L.A. and joined up with the Afropop-indie rock fusion combo Fool’s Gold, his most sustained success yet. He’ll bring his multi-instrumental prowess back home Saturday when Fool’s Gold plays The Summit with their close Columbus counterparts Maza Blaska.
