Preview: Screaming Females at Double Happiness

Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive

New Jersey DIY punk trio Screaming Females has one of the most intriguing resumes in rock. They've toured major music halls with the likes of Against Me! and The Dead Weather and bounded through the basements of the American underground. Their story is their own, and so is their sound. New LP "Ugly" presents a ballsy brand of pop-punk, grafting Zeppelin blues bluster to Sleater-Kinney's enlightened banshee routine as filtered through the devious cackle of the Wicked Witch of the West. This is the kind of band that could detonate a tight space like Double Happiness.

Laura Stevenson and the Cans co-headline Tuesday's show.
