Justin Vernon's shoes are for the dogs (and cats)

We're thrilled with today's fresh crop of Columbus concerts, but it left us with one question: When the heck is Bon Iver coming to Columbus? What could be keeping him from our always riveting company?

As it turns out, Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) has been up to plenty besides playing music. He recently joined forces with shoe and apparel company Keep to design shoes that benefit an animal welfare organization. The shoes have a salmon-colored canvas upper and a sweet fishbone illustration on the toe.

The publicity photos on Keep's website are enough to melt the coldest heart. See kitties cuddling up to Bon Iver's sensitive shoes, giving their purrs of approval. They seem to be saying, "Good work, Justin! You can go to Columbus now and play for the nice people!"

The company is taking pre-orders for the shoes through July 1, with an anticipated delivery date in October. A portion of each $75 sale benefits the Best Friends Animal Society. True fans know Bon Iver has a soft spot for kitties (as if you couldn't recognize a kindred spirit by listening to his music). Melmon and Flo, both adopted, have been featured on the Bon Iver blog.
