Polica at The Basement

The PBR&B well hasn’t run dry yet. On last year’s “Give You the Ghost,” recently reissued by Mom & Pop Records, Minnesota outfit Polica proves there are still respectable — nay, enjoyable — sounds to be wrung from the trend of indie kids channeling spectral R&B visions.

Granted, the album was originally released last year at the peak of this movement, but it portends strongly for continued goodness from Channy Leaneagh and Ryan Olson, especially since they already chipped in for Justin Vernon’s bizarrely satisfying Gayngs project.

Also worth noting: Opening act Gardens & Villa, a nimble indie-pop unit with a thing for programmed drums and gleaming keys, makes a fine appetizer.
