Band of Skulls at the Newport

Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive

Band of Skulls is too good at what they do to be a mere afterthought. Still, if you couldn't get tickets to the Jack White show - or if you did and loved it - you might find similar stimulation from these guitar-slinging Brits and their pop-tinged approach to lumbering blues rock.

As anyone who spends time tuned to CD102.5 can attest, hits "Sweet Sour" and "I Know What I Am" have a way of worming into your consciousness and clinging relentlessly. Witness them in person Tuesday at the Newport, and you might never shake them.

Opening the show will be psych-folk-pop hybrid Ponderosa.
