Lukas Nelson & the Promise of Real at Woodlands

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

Lukas Nelson’s band name guarantees authenticity, or at least the search for it. And while the concept of “the genuine article” often seems nebulous, The Promise of Real is among the more entertaining parties in pursuit.

Willie Nelson’s well-traveled son and his homeys tackle roots rock with a restless, rowdy spirit that suggests he wasn’t coddled, but also a refined taste that shows he spent a lot of time with his dad’s record collection. He’s played Woodlands a few times now, so don’t miss your chance to see him up close before he graduates to larger rooms.

Molly Winters opens Friday’s show.
