Staff Pick: Divine Fits at the Newport

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

Three angles to appreciate Wednesday’s Divine Fits show at the Newport, the band’s second Columbus visit and first in a venue large enough to match its pedigree: (1) What indie rock fan wouldn’t want to see Spoon’s Britt Daniel and Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner join forces? (2) What Columbus music fan wouldn’t want to see a band featuring local legend Sam Brown on drums? (3) What music connoisseur wouldn’t want to see the group responsible for A Thing Called Divine Fits, an album that bridges fiery guitar rock and icy new wave more adeptly than most?

Furthermore, opening acts Cold Cave and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (moved over from The Basement) will ably show off both sides of that genre equation.
