Trey Anastasio Band at the LC

Even though Phish is back in business, frontman Trey Anastasio sometimes takes his solo show on the road too. And while the legion known as Phishheads probably would prefer to worship at the altar of the original lineup, the band’s core appeal — Anastasio’s snaking guitar theatrics — is still firmly in place when it’s just Trey.

For those not acquainted with Anastasio, a cursory YouTube search reveals his broad range of admirers (he brought The Roots and Grace Potter together on stage in New York) and his band’s penchant for revisiting great moments in pop history (his Beatles and Dire Straits covers aren’t half bad).

Frankly, I don’t get what’s so awesome about the guy, but considering his track record it seems like at least one out of four neophytes who experience his concert will walk out converted for life.
