Electric Guest at the Newport
Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive

Silverlake pedigree, vaguely electronics- and soul-infused sound, Danger Mouse production - this band is pretty much guaranteed success whether you show up to the Newport or not. Considering Cee-Lo has moved on to full-time soul singing, Electric Guest has ably stepped up to fill that Gnarls Barkley void (check CD102.5 staple "This Head I Hold" for the proof).
Should you decide to take the plunge, show up early enough to see a pair of bands from neighboring L.A. neighborhood Echo Park: NO, whose anthems will sneak up on you, and gleaming '80s revivalists Line & Circle, who make that sound seem fresh against all odds.
