Concert preview: Wiz Khalifa and Fall Out Boy make for unlikely LC pairing

This package bill, dubbed the "Boys of Zummer Tour," teams wordy pop-punks Fall Out Boy with eternally stoned rapper Wiz Khalifa, whose list of singles could pass for the alternate menu at a medical marijuana dispensary.

Aside from chart success - both landed at Number One with recent albums (Khalifa with Blacc Hollywood in 2014 and FOB earlier this year with American Beauty/American Psycho) - there appears to be little linking the two acts. On "Irresistible" Fall out Boy singer Patrick Stump even compares a woman to secondhand smoke because he's unsure what she could be doing to his system, an analogy that must sound foreign to Khalifa, an MC with a crystal-clear awareness of the effects numerous types of smoke might have on his person.

Regardless, the musicians involved haven't adopted some kind of walled-off, divide-and-conquer approach. Rather, early reports have the two acts collaborating on at least a handful of tunes, with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz joining Khalifa for "Stayin Out All Night" and the Pittsburgh rapper returning the favor by dropping a guest verse on the band's pop-culture goofing "Uma Thurman."
