Concert preview: Sage Francis returns rust-free with Copper Gone

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

Copper Gone, the latest from the Rhode Island rapper opens with a female voice asking "Where have you been?" - a fitting question considering the album marked Francis' first full-length release in more than four years. Despite the extended absence, the MC displays little rust, blasting his way through dense, dark, angry tunes that find him lashing out at everything from musicians who happily tap dance for the industry powers that be ("ID Thieves") to mankind's inherently evil ways ("Dead Man's Float").

Dominique Larue opens the show.
