Daily Distraction: Listen to Justin Vernon's newly signed trio 81355 featuring Oreo Jones

The Indianapolis rap group will release 'This Time I'll Be of Use' on label 37d03d on May 28, featuring excellent first single 'Capstone'

Several years ago, for a Pitchfork feature on house shows, I connected with rapper Oreo Jones, who came up in the vibrant house show scene of Indianapolis’ Fountain Square neighborhood. These days, in addition to his own projects, Jones is part of a new trio, 81355 (pronounced "bless"), featuring fellow Indy rapper Sirius Blvck and Joyful Noise recording artist Sedcairn Archives (aka David Adamson). 

81355 just signed to 37d03d, the label founded by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver with Aaron and Bryce Dessner of the National, and the band also announced its debut album, This Time I'll Be of Use, releasing May 28. "Capstone" is the first single from the record, and if the rest of the album is even half as good as this track, we're in for a treat.
