Q&A: Misty Jordan of Power 107.5
Misty Jordan would be notable simply for her ability to get up at 5 a.m. without coffee, but as co-host of The Power Morning Show on Power 107.5, her story gets more intriguing daily.
"I make appearances at gas stations all the way up to hosting parties with Lil Wayne," she said
In advance of Power's anniversary party, Jordan discussed life on and off the air.
I went to 10 schools in 12 years, so I never really grew up in a neighborhood. So I was always meeting new people all the time. So I'm kind of happy that I did because now meeting people is kind of second nature to me.
I actually started off in television. I worked at ABC 6 and Fox 28 for years. I started off working teleprompter, and then I worked in promotions. I did Chyron for a while, and then I ended up reporting.
I worked both jobs for a while. I was just a workhorse. If I worked 70 hours a week, I thought, "This is vacation!"
I recently met President Obama... He was very down to earth, and Michelle was gorgeous, and she had flats on. I didn't realize she was that tall.
Lil Wayne was a little shy. I think LL Cool J was a little shy. Nicki Minaj was not as friendly as I thought she would have been.
I'm a big holistic healer. I don't believe in medicine, so I drink natural American ginseng. I'll take a little scoop of that, and I'll use lemon drops and put them in my tea.
I'm a reality show junkie. If it's reality and it's on TV, I'm watching it, period. I don't care how awful it is.
I'm probably the most random person in the studio. One day I was on Facebook and this girl was doing a handstand, and I thought it would be great if we all challenged each other to do handstands.
In TV, when you're interviewing someone, you listen for their natural sound bites, so you don't interject - you just listen. In radio, you're having a conversation, so I can jump in and say, "Yeah, you're right," and I can jump in and say, "Girl, you better shut up!"
