Wednesday lunch break with the Ohio Machine
The Ohio Machine professional lacrosse team is giving Downtown worker bees an excellent reason to get out of the office for lunch on Wednesday. The team's big home opener is coming up in a few days, so a big party at Columbus Commons, complete with food trucks, music and lacrosse demonstrations, will serve as a rally of sorts for the guys.
Several Machine players - including Upper Arlington's own Brett Hughes - will sign autographs and perform some lacrosse demonstrations (for those of us born in football or soccer country). Around 12:45 p.m., anyone at the Commons is welcome to join an attempt to create a record-breaking largest lacrosse game. The goal is to get 200 people to play lacrosse in quick shifts, shattering a world record. Anyone who brings his or her own lacrosse stick and registers ahead of time gets two tickets to the home opener Saturday night in Delaware at Ohio Wesleyan University's Selby Stadium.
Grab lunch from Cheesy Truck, Hungry Monkey, Mikey's Late Night Slice or Tatoheads. The band Earwig will entertain from the Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion, the formal name for the fantastic new stage at the Commons.
Festivities kick off at 11:30 a.m. and last until 1:30 p.m.
